Monster High Layout using Laughing Lola

When my daughter first saw the Laughing Lola papers she immediately said "Ohhh they look like Monster High!"  So of course I had to do a layout featuring her love of Monster High that dominated her second grade year.

She had a Monster High backpack, a Monster High Birthday party, and of course all the Monster High merchandise one could want.  The layout is simple because for me it's hard to add so many pictures to a two page layout....and I couldn't just leave any of them out!

I used the new Artbooking Cricut Cartridge to make a cute little bow frame.

And the sparkling Laughing Lola accessories make it easy to embellish.

This second page features pictures from the morning of her birthday (her Frankie doll gift) and also pictures of her party.

Love the sparkles!

And I guess it is about time I got this layout finished considering she just started third grade and her next birthday is days away!!

Have a great week!

Big Boy 12x12 Layout

This summer I have the amazing chance to spend some quality time in my hometown with my parents.  My kiddos loved the beach, riding around in Pawpaw's golf cart and drinking milkshakes almost every night!

But one thing I will always remember is that it is the summer that my three year old son gave up his "bah" otherwise known as a pacifier.  It was a little rough at first, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.  He's a big boy for sure now.  But when I watch him sleep I still think of him as my baby.

One morning I sneaked into his room and took this picture of the morning sun falling in over him before he woke.  I love love love it.  It will always remind me of the sweet mornings of this summer where we were lazy and relaxed.  I thought and thought about how to capture that feeling with the layout and decided to make it a simple one page affair with soft relaxing colors to compliment the colors of the photo.

The note pages are cut using the new Artbooking cartridge.  I attached the top on only at the bottom so you can lift it to see the hidden journaling.  I added staples as the only other accessories.  The star cutout is from Artbooking also.

This is definitely one of my favorite LOs.  Could have something to do with that little cutie sleeping there...

Friend Layout {Using Chantilly Papers}

When I saw the beautiful layout in the 2013 Spring/Summer Idea Book on page 19 I thought it would look fantastic framed on the wall.  Then the more I thought about using it for a workshop, I wanted to make a companion layout.  Welllll long story short--here is what I ended up making.

This is what I did with the LO from the Idea Book.  I flipped it.  And since I didn't have the exact stamp I improvised.  (Which was much easier since my stamps are now cataloged--more on that in a future post.)

Here is the companion LO.  It's a take on page 27 in the Make It From Your Heart Volume 1.

Some of the details...

And here are the two LOs side by side...

I am so happy with how they turned out, but I feel like they might be a little involved for a workshop.  I'll have to think about it a little.  ;)

I hope to have a post about how I organized my stamps up soon so check back...

Mojo Monday 252 {Soar}

I don't know if the rules of Mojo Monday allow for doing LOs instead of cards, but I really wanted to do a layout today.  :)

I also wanted to use the July SOTM.  Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it.  For some reason the Lagoon CS looks super bright in these pictures.

I added butterflies in the place of the hearts to go with the Soar stamp.

And I sometimes feel like my daughter needs to know the truth....

I really love how this one turned out.  I think I will frame it for her room.

Remember today is the last day to grab the July SOTM!

Cookies from the trash...

taste SO much better!  At least according to my son.

One day after cleaning and re-organizing the pantry I noticed my son had chocolate all over his face.  When I figured out where it came from, I did what any self respecting mom would have done.

 I grabbed the camera and made him re-create what he did....

I titled this LO "Gah-ya" because that is how he says Gotcha!  And he does say it often.  I haven't added the journaling yet.  I really love the look of the spool of film.  Finally I remembered about a punch I had that makes paper look like a spiral notebook.  In this case I think it works to look like a some negatives...

These Moments {using Stella papers}

It's really been a very long time since I've done a scrapbook layout.  But today I have the first of hopefully many for you!

I had some pictures of my kids that were beautiful and colorful.  Normally that presents quite a challenge, but I tried to bring out some colors in their clothes with the papers, and then pair it with a healthy dose of neutrals to keep it from getting out of hand.

Left:

I used a couple of techniques on the left page.  Random stamping--{using one (or more) stamps to make a random pattern over the paper}.  In this instance I used tone-on-tone, Goldrush Ink over Goldrush CS.  I also roughed up the edges of the paper using the Edge Distresser.  This technique takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it will be a tool you use over and over.

Right:

I also used the Edge Distresser on the Goldrush CS that frames the pictures.  It gives so much texture to the page and helps the photos leap off the page!

A side by side view:

It's a simple layout, but I'm just getting my feet wet with again.  Here's a couple of details of the texture...

See you soon!
